Physician Writers' Group

Six months of weekly workshops, beginning this October. Hosted by Frances Mei Hardin, MD.

You already have something you want to write. An essay you keep returning to. A book idea that has lived in your notes app for years. A story from medicine you know matters, but have not yet found the time, or the structure, to tell...

Applications Close September 15th

This Group Is For Physicians Who:

- Have a story that's been percolating inside
- Want to write with craft and intention, not just catharsis
- Are ready to turn experience into art
- Will do the work: pages are due every month

The Physician Writers’ Group is a six-month writing cohort for a small group of attending physicians ready to take one project seriously and see it through. Beginning in October 2026, we will meet weekly for a combination of craft lessons, close reading, manuscript workshops, and dedicated conversations about revision, publication, and the realities of building a writing practice alongside a career in medicine.

You will learn the tools of literary nonfiction: how to shape lived experience into narrative, build structure, develop scenes, find the heart of a piece, and revise beyond the first draft. Just as importantly, you will have other physicians expecting you to keep writing.

Choose Your Project

Week one, you choose your project. In month six, you finish it.

Choose one:

- A complete book proposal: outline, sample chapters, and comps, ready to query
- Three essays: finished and submitted for publication
- For the truly committed: a complete first draft of your book

Hear from past attendees:

“I loved Writers' Group. It provided a safe space for experimentation and to bring work, struggles, blocks, questions, and insecurities. It gradually opened the possibility of writing for me in a way that feels authentic. I cherish the trust and support we created.” - E.B.
