Brian F. Hoeflinger, MD
Brian F. Hoeflinger, MD, is a neurosurgeon in Toledo, OH where he has been practicing full time for the past 26 years. He completed his medical school training and a prestigious Howard Hughes Medical Institute Research Fellowship in Toledo before moving to Rochester, NY to complete his Neurosurgery residency training at the University of Rochester. Dr. Hoeflinger is married to Dr. Cynthia B. Hoeflinger, MD, PhD, a retired forensic pathologist, who also completed her residency at the University of Rochester. They have four children and a two-year-old grandson. Their oldest son Brian died in a drunk driving accident in 2013 at the age of 18 which changed their lives forever. Since their son’s death, the Hoeflingers have been extremely proactive in educating both kids and adults as to the dangers of alcohol, especially those pertaining to drunk driving. Dr. Brian Hoeflinger has authored a book entitled, “The Night He Died” which addresses his son’s death and the topic of underage drinking. In addition, Dr. Hoeflinger has recently started a weekly newsletter with over 25,000 active subscribers and has a frequent podcast with his son Kevin. Dr. Hoeflinger enjoys the outdoors including golfing, hiking and scuba diving. He has completed several marathons, a full Ironman and has recently successfully climbed Mt Kilimanjaro in Africa with his son Kevin.
